New FEDESSA report on self storag - ISS Relocations

A new report from FEDESSA on self-storage

In 2022, the Federation of European Self Storage Associations (FEDESSA) will publish its eleventh industry study. For the first time, the report is produced jointly with CBRE (Global Commercial Real Estate).

Despite COVID-19 disruptions and economic headwinds throughout the past year, the self-storage market has performed well. Investor interest has continued to grow in spite of significant mismatches between the depth of funds targeting the sector and the opportunities it offers.

More than 100 operators representing 1,000 facilities in 24 countries contributed to the survey to quantify the size and drivers of the industry. More than one third of the market is represented by this segment. The report does not include industries in the United Kingdom, however responses to the Self-Storage Association UK’s (SSA UK) 2022 Annual Survey have been included where appropriate.

THE REPORT REVEALS THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS: 5.1% GROWTH IN EUROPEAN STORES, AVERAGE RENT UP 7.9% IN ONE YEAR, and 59% OF OPERATORS PLAN FURTHER RATE RAISES IN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS, AND AVERAGE OCCUPANCY LEVELS SLIPPING Slightly.
