You can apply for a Belgian visa at any consulate or Belgian embassy that is close to your location. It is advised to apply at least 4 weeks before the scheduled date of relocation to Belgium. This is a precaution since many visas take longer to process than usual. The visa applications for longer stays [i.e., more than the prescribed 90 days for tourism] need to be filled at the embassy or consulates only.

There are various types of long-term visas based on your reason for staying and your occupation. With a processing time that varies from a few weeks to months, the fee charged is usually 130 EUR, irrespective of which visa you are applying for.

We will now discuss the types of visas and their specific documentation requirements.

The first thing you need to know while applying for a visa to Brazil is that there are 2 main types:

1. Brazil Visit Visa
This type of visa is issued to people who primarily wish to visit the country for a vacation or short stay extending not more than 90 days.

2. Brazil Temporary Visa
This visa allows you to stay for a long term, usually from 1 to 3 years. After the issue of the Brazil Temporary Visa, individuals receive their migration card which allows them to reside in the country for more than 90 days.

For this, you have to register with the Brazilian Federal Police within 90 days. Registration has to be renewed before the expiration date. Different subsets of Brazil Temporary Visa have been identified below:

3. Brazilian Student Visa- This visa must be obtained before the student’s entrance into Brazil. Under no circumstances shall a tourist visa be converted into a student visa.

4. Brazil Retirement Visa- For this visa, the requirements would be monthly access to at least $2,000 and enough funds to support yourself, you must have reached retirement age (60 for women and 65 for men) and a clear police record.

5. Brazil Digital Nomad Visa- For a single applicant, they should have monthly access to $1,500 and show a bank deposit of a minimum of $18,000 in a bank account.
