Wizz Air, a budget airline, has proudly announced the inauguration of its flights departing from the recently renamed Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. Today marked the historic takeoff of the first flight from Terminal A at this newly-established airport, positioning the carrier as one of the pioneering national airlines to transition their operations to this state-of-the-art facility.
This maiden flight departed from Abu Dhabi, bound for Cairo’s Sphinx International Airport. Travelers can anticipate this route to be available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
Johan Eidhagen, the Managing Director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to be among the initial airlines to launch operations from Terminal A, a cutting-edge facility. This relocation, along with the introduction of our new route to Sphinx, Cairo, marks a significant milestone in our recent impressive growth. It solidifies our role in contributing to the development of Abu Dhabi’s aviation sector and further propels the emirate’s position as a prominent global aviation gateway.

Currently, Wizz Air serves more than 39 destinations across 27 countries, and there are further expansion plans slated for 2024.
